Celebrate Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is celebrated with balloons, flowers – particularly roses – and other gifts to express one’s love, affection or appreciation for a loved one or a friend. Many couples go out for dinner to make the most of a romantic evening on February 14.

Valentine’s Day is an observance and not a national public holiday in Mexico. Restaurants can be particularly busy on this day.

The origins of Valentine's Day are not clear but many sources believe that it stems from the story of St Valentine, a Roman priest who was martyred on or around February 14 in the year 270 CE.
