Good Friday (Orthodox) 2025 in North Macedonia

Millions of Orthodox Christians commemorate Good Friday, also known as “Great Friday” to remember the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion. The Orthodox Easter dates usually differ from the dates used by western churches because most Orthodox churches retained some version of the Julian calendar, which is older than the Gregorian calendar, commonly used today.

Is Good Friday (Orthodox) a Public Holiday?

Good Friday (Orthodox) is an optional holiday. Employment and holiday laws in North Macedonia allow employees to choose a limited number of holidays from a list of optional holidays. Some employees may choose to take the day off on this day, however, most offices and businesses remain open.
