Yom Kippur 2025 in Austria

Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, marks the end of the Yamim Noraim (Days of Awe) and falls on the 10th day of Tishrei (Tishri), the seventh month in the Jewish calendar. Many Jewish communities engage in intense prayer and fasting.

Is Yom Kippur a Public Holiday?

Yom Kippur is an optional holiday. Employment and holiday laws in Austria allow employees to choose a limited number of holidays from a list of optional holidays. Some employees may choose to take the day off on this day, however, most offices and businesses remain open.

Prayer time is part of the Yom Kippur traditions.
